What an affiliate relationship does
An affiliate program compensates a partner for qualifying referrals or purchases under the provider’s rules. FTMO’s published affiliate FAQ describes commissions on specified qualifying purchases, with terms that depend on the product and program level. The narrow fact is that a documented commercial incentive exists. It does not prove that every review is inaccurate, that every creator is paid or that affiliates account for a particular share of the firm’s customers. Those broader claims would require evidence about the specific publisher and the company’s acquisition mix.
Acquisition cost is only the beginning of the calculation
As a business mechanism, a commission connects marketing expenditure to a defined customer action. The provider still needs to assess the revenue and costs associated with the acquired customer over time. Refunds, service expenses, repeat purchases and reward obligations can affect the result. A high commission can be consistent with several strategies, including a competitive acquisition environment or an expectation of future customer value. Without financial disclosure, it is not possible to infer which explanation dominates. The advertised commission rate alone cannot establish either a generous profit margin or an unsustainable business.
Disclosure helps readers evaluate the incentive
The U.S. Federal Trade Commission’s endorsement guidance explains that material connections can need clear disclosure when they may affect how an audience evaluates an endorsement. Affiliate links are one familiar setting for that issue. This is U.S. guidance, not a claim that every jurisdiction applies identical rules. From an editorial perspective, the important point is straightforward: readers should be able to distinguish an independent comparison from content that may earn money when they purchase. A discount code can benefit a customer while also creating an incentive that deserves to be visible.
Evaluate the analysis, not just the promotional offer
A useful review identifies the exact product, current conditions, limitations and source documents. It distinguishes the writer’s own experience from company claims and avoids presenting a commission-generating purchase as a guaranteed route to income. Readers can check whether a ranking explains its methodology, whether competing products receive comparable treatment, and whether negative findings are documented as carefully as positive ones. For the firm’s economics, the relevant question is the cost and quality of acquired customers. For the reader, it is whether the information remains accurate and useful despite the commercial relationship. These are related but separate assessments.
