What to know before you compare

There is no single best prop firm for every trader. Our 2026 shortlist covers five CFD programs and five futures providers, with ten detailed guides below. Start with the market you trade, then compare the permitted loss, complete cost and withdrawal conditions. “Top 10” describes this editorial selection, not an audited league table or a promise of funding.

How we selected the ten firms

We selected programs with publicly accessible official documentation and different evaluation, billing and payout structures. Five CFD-focused selections are Alpha Capital Group, FTMO, FundedNext, FundingPips and The5ers; the futures selections are Apex Trader Funding, Earn2Trade, Take Profit Trader, Topstep and Tradeify. This is not an exhaustive market survey. We have not audited company finances, tested accounts, measured customer outcomes or verified payout reliability. The evidence supports a comparison of published terms, not a declaration that one firm is safest.

Read the exact program name, not just the brand

The table identifies the product covered by each guide. Alpha Pro, international FTMO 2-Step, Stellar, Standard and High Stakes are distinct configurations. [1][2][3][4][5] A brand may sell several products, so a rule found in one review may not apply to another checkout option. The linked guides separate evaluation rules from later-stage requirements and call out meaningful contradictions. Where official pages disagree, we show the disagreement and recommend confirming the purchased agreement rather than guessing which statement wins.

Simulated funding and live trading are different

Several programs use simulated accounts after an evaluation; the later stage should not automatically be described as a live brokerage account. The futures providers also have distinct pathways and account models. [6][7][8][9][10] A displayed account balance is not a cash grant you can withdraw. Read what the agreement actually promises, how a reward is calculated, whether a separate firm supplies the funded arrangement, and what review is needed before live trading. The ten guides explain these distinctions individually.

Compare risk room before headline account size

Make a worksheet with starting balance, maximum-loss floor, daily-loss calculation, reset time and the treatment of unrealized gains. As a purely hypothetical example, a $100,000 account with a fixed 10% total-loss allowance provides $10,000 of initial loss room; a tighter daily limit could still bind first. A trailing floor may reduce that room after gains. These figures are an illustration, not a rule shared by the ten providers. Work through your own sequence of trades against the actual contract before deciding whether a program fits.

Price the whole attempt, not the discount

Record the full checkout cost, optional add-ons, reset price, renewal interval, activation charge, data fees and transaction costs. Then compare a first-pass scenario with a retry scenario. Keep conditional fee reimbursements separate from money you must pay now. A reimbursement tied to a later reward is not an unconditional refund. If billing continues after failure, cancelling an unused subscription matters as much as the headline fee. Our individual guides identify these distinctions where the official documentation supports them.

Treat a payout percentage as only one input

A high advertised split says little without the rest of the withdrawal policy. Check minimum profitable days, consistency limits, retained buffers, request caps, waiting periods, payment fees and review requirements. Ask what balance would remain after the request and whether the loss floor would change. Compare the amount you might be eligible to receive after all deductions, not the gross profit displayed on a platform. No guide here promises that a request will be approved.

Build a shortlist that fits your trading routine

First eliminate products unavailable for your residence, citizenship or required platform. Next compare session cutoffs, weekend holding, news restrictions, automation and position limits with your existing routine. Only then compare purchase prices. Keep dated copies of the chosen specifications, receipt and written clarifications. A product that requires you to abandon essential parts of your strategy may be a poor fit even when its headline fee is low. Practising the rules before paying can expose that mismatch.

How to use this comparison over time

The program research was checked on October 25, 2026. Prices, available configurations and official terms can change, and older accounts may retain different rules. Open the detailed guide for its numbered primary sources, then check the provider’s current agreement before a purchase. This site uses FundedNext branding and covers FundedNext alongside the other firms; readers should account for that context. The table’s alphabetical order and disclosed criteria make the comparison inspectable without presenting the publication as an independent certification body.

Frequently asked questions

Which prop firm is best for beginners?

There is no evidence-based universal winner in this review. Compare eligibility, market access and the complete rules with a practice trading record. A shorter evaluation or larger headline account does not prove a better fit.

Are these the ten largest or safest prop firms?

No. This is a documented editorial shortlist of ten providers. We have not audited their assets, solvency, market share or payment reliability, so the article does not rank them on those measures.

Does passing an evaluation guarantee a payout?

No. Passing, account approval, meeting withdrawal conditions and receiving payment are separate steps. Read the detailed guide and the applicable agreement for each program.

Where can I verify the rules?

Each firm in the comparison links to a full guide with numbered official sources. Use the help center and account agreement matching your purchase date, product and options.
